Battle of the Plains of Abraham

The Battle of the Plains of Abraham, also known as the Battle of Quebec, was a pivotal battle in the Seven Years' War. The battle, which began on 13 September 1759, was fought by the British Army and Navy against the French Army on a plateau just outside the walls of Quebec City, on land that was originally owned by a farmer named Abraham Martin, hence the name of the battle.

Ghosts on the Great Plains: Sitting Bull, Buffalo Bill and the Battle for Standing Rock
Some time ago, I learned about a strange and heartbreaking moment that had transpired outside Sitting Bull’s cabin while he was being assassinated by tribal police during an arrest. A horse was tethered to a railing and at the sound of gunfire, it started to “dance,” trained to do so while he was in the Wild West, Buffalo Bill’s famous spectacle, which Sitting Bull was a part of for four months during 1885. For months I couldn’t shake the image and as I began to look into it, I learned that the horse had been a gift to Sitting Bull from Buffalo Bill, presented to him when he left the

* 1759: Here Died Wolfe Victorious & Other Quebec Curios The Plains of Abraham, though such a significant battle to Quebec history, was short even by contemporary standards. Lasting only about fifteen minutes, with British general James Wolfe being killed within minutes of the battle’s beginning, the British victory would see the shadow start to fall over the previously French-controlled territory of New France. The French commander, Louis-Joseph de… View On WordPress
* The Bombardment of Quebec – Colourized Here are two pages from “Each in His Narrow Cell,” my ongoing graphic novel project recounting the siege of Quebec and the Battle of The Plains of Abraham in 1759. All the characters from a particular nation are depicted in a combination of a neutral grey tone and one characteristic colour -blue for the French, red for the English, purple for the Haudenosaunee (Iroquois), and so on. Why did God select Abraham, when it also mentions that Abraham didn't even know God's name
The bit where Abraham asks for God's name sounds like they are still strangers to each other having spent little time discussing things, and yet God selects him. Why is that?

Was Abraham a true monotheist? Did he believe other gods existed for other people?Did Abraham's God (who is the Lord) insist on exclusivity?

Indeed Abraham was monotheist but knew from experience that others believed otherwise and yes Almighty God, praise be He, does insist on being exclusive. <
Like all primitive-minded people, Abraham "knew" there were MANY gods, but that his was "the best". Hey, even "god" admits that in the bible.
Abraham's belief is unknown - but we know he loved God and was wiling to give up everything for his faith in God
he actually mocked the other gods of Egypt and UR
Where Abraham was living before the true God commanded him to leave was full of false gods, even his father and family were worshipping false gods. The true God Jehovah always demanded exclusive devotion.
Even the Greeks with their plethora of gods had a Supreme God. A. believed in the supreme God...if he believed in any others they are indistinguishable from angels or other lower but still spiritual beings.
Yes. Abraham believe that it was logical that there could only be one Almighty God. There could not be two Gods of heaven and earth, tow kings of the kingdom, two emperors of an empire, or two pharaohs in Egypt. It didn't make sense.
It appears Abraham was monotheistic. Also it seems knew the God of Abraham. The Melchizedek was a Priest and received offerings from Abraham. The King of Egypt had a vision from God. If he believe there were other deity is pure guess work.
The cultural norm for 'Abrahamic' times was paganism which has been badly portrayed by (Christian) history as essentially similar to Christian religion. Forget that propaganda and realise that people haven't always been that daft. In fact, it used to be normal for people to be quite clever, knowing and sophisticated in their cultures. Pagan gods weren't gods and everyone was well aware of it just as we, today, are well aware that when Poseidon's in a bit of a mood it's probably no a good idea to go sailing. It's the same thing when Neptune's got a strop on, Only children were ever expected to actually think there might be giant ocean gods having tantrums when the seas get rough and they were expected to come to a better appreciation of the idea when they grew out of being children like our contemporary children do with Santa Claus. Monotheism is perpetually infantile.
He believed there was one true God and all the others were imaginary. At that time some people actually worshipped the sun and other non-living things.
Abraham did not exist
1. No. Monotheism did not infiltrate Judaism until the Babylonian Exile. 2. He believed in the Lord as his God, but he also acknowledged the supremacy of the Most High God, Elohim. 3. Yes, Jehovah wanted Abraham and his descendants to worship only him until the Law was fulfilled.
He worshiped the God of the Bible, who revealed Himself from the beginning in three persons.
When we walk in the plains out west does the Earth appear to be curved?

No, not even at sea. The only clue of the curve is when a person sees the TOP of an object, first, when approaching.
Visually, no... except you're able to see an horizon. If it *wasn't* curved, you'd see the Himalayas to the west, the Andes to the south, and the Eiffel tower to the east. Since you can't see those... you assume it's below the horizon....
No. But from a point above the surface the horizon appears slightly bent. For observers near sea level the difference between this geometrical horizon (which assumes a perfectly flat, infinite ground plane) and the true horizon (which assumes a spherical Earth surface) is imperceptible to the naked eye (but for someone on a 1000-meter hill looking out to sea the true horizon will be about a degree below a horizontal line).

29 And it came to pass that Shared gave him battle again upon the plains; and behold, he did beat Coriantumr, and drove him back again to the valley of Gilgal. 29 Y aconteció que Shared de nuevo le salió a la batalla en las llanuras; y he aquí, venció a Coriántumr, y lo hizo retroceder hasta el valle de Gilgal.
Abraham begot Isaac, whom the lord then said to kill! But, that was just a little silly trick to see if Abraham would do it! Abraham engendró a Isaac y el Señor le pidió que lo matara pero fue un truquito tonto para ver si Abraham era capaz.
His primary sources were the buffaloed plains and the Plains Indians, whom he knew intimately.
